A garden's structure dictates the how, what and when of its use. The various elements of hard and soft landscaping need to complement each other but without the underlying essence of good design it will fall short of its objectives.

A garden, when planted, becomes a living entity, and like all living entities, it thrives on love care and attention. There are, of course, ways to minimize the amount of time spent doing laborious, boring, repetitive and time consuming jobs by appropriate design and planting, as after all, one of the main pleasures of a garden is just sitting in it.
All things are possible, but all need careful design and planning.
